Produce OASIS Tip of the Day
September 9 - Tomatillo Selection Tips:
Also called Chinese lantern plant and Mexican husk tomato, tomatillo is
used in sauces, Mexican stew, salsa and casseroles. Tomatillo is available
year-round from Mexico and California.
Good-quality tomatillos will be very firm and smooth-skinned with a dry
and crisp husk. The coloring of the fruit will be light to medium-green
with an occasional yellow blush, while the husk will be green to light tan.
Avoid product that is soft, wet or is blemished with black spots.
OASIS has much more information on tomatillos.
