August 1 - The Variety Melon Season:

Variety Melons are available from California and Arizona throughout the Summer, from June until October, with the peak in July. It's those hot days and cold nights. To ripen, melons require extreme heat although too much can lead to overripe fruit.

Product from South America is available during the winter months. The flavor can be good, but they won't be as sweet as those available in the summer months.
