1/2 cup Butter, softened 1 cupHoney 2 Egg yolks 2 t Vanilla extract 2-1/2 cup Cake flour 2-1/4 tsp Baking powder 1/2 tsp Salt 1 cup Milk 1/2 cup Poppy seeds 4 Egg whites, stiffly beaten Pinch salt
Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease and flour two 8-inch cake pans. Stir together the flour, baking powder and salt and poppy seeds. Set aside. Cream together butter and honey. Add the egg yolks, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in the vanilla. Add the dry ingredients, alternating with milk, beating well after each addition. Fold in the beaten egg whites. Pour into prepared pans. Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes or until cake tester comes out clean.
Good-quality buttercup squash will be firm, heavy for its size and have an even cream color.
Avoid product that has soft spots, dull and wrinkled (...)
