Selection Information


Usage: Cook and use whole or sliced in salads, soups, stews, stir-fry and casseroles.

Selection: The shells of good-quality Water Chestnuts, like any nut, should not be cracked, and avoid product that is sprouted. To extend storage life, do not wash water chestnuts until you are ready to use them. Keep water chestnuts in the refrigerator to reduce sprouting.

Avoid: Avoid product that is soft or sprouting.

Storage: Left unpeeled, Water Chestnuts placed in a plastic bag can be kept in your refrigerator for up to two weeks. Peeled Water Chestnuts should be kept in cold water within your refrigerator and you should change the water each day. Canned Water Chestnuts can be stored in a cool dry place for up to a year. Opened cans should be consumed within three days.
