Pummelo
Scientific Binomial Name: Citrus maxima
The Pummelo is a tart fruit avalaible in the winter time. Also called shaddock, pumelo, pomelo, and Chinese grapefruit, pummelo is an ancestor of the grapefruit that originated in Asia but is now grown all over the world.
Selection Information
Usage: Eaten fresh, in salads, in jams, jellies, marmalades, sauces, beverages & syrups.
Selection: Good-quality Pummelo will be firm to slightly soft, heavy for its size, round to slightly pointed at one end, and have slightly rough, yellow skin.
Avoid: Avoid product that is extremely soft or lightweight.

Available November through February from California.
