I think it’s important for you to know the passion I have for this business in order to earn your trust around the content and functionality you’ll find on ProduceOASIS. It might surprise you to know that ProduceOASIS was launched in 1996. While I think most would agree that local produce is better, local versus non-local isn't the whole story! We will never see a locally grown banana in Washington State, but the issue is more complicated and there isn't one right answer.

Choices Can Be Overwhelming

No insult intended to the fine folks at General Mills, but if fresh produce were like a box of Cheerios, there would be little need for ProduceOASIS. However, fresh produce doesn’t come off an assembly line, and that’s a big part of why I like this industry.

There is a lot of produce out there and lots of ways to tell if an item is ripe and countless preparation methods. Complicating matters further is that not everyone wants information delivered in exactly the same way. In fact, even the same person has different needs depending on the situation. Sometimes you’re busy & tired on the way home from work and just want a slightly different way to prepare that broccoli for dinner. Other times, you’re less pressed for time and are in a mood to browse, so it would be great if you could get some hints on the best seasonal fruit currently available.
